The Story Behind My Art: How I Found My Voice Through Painting

“Art has always been a part of me, but my path to becoming an artist was anything but straightforward. It started with a passion for creativity and evolved into a journey of healing, self-discovery, and purpose. Today, I’m grateful to share my voice through painting—a voice that speaks to resilience, love, and the beauty of life’s unexpected turns.”

Early Beginnings in Mar del Plata

I was born in Mar del Plata, Argentina, a city that inspires creativity with its ocean views and lively energy. At 18, I moved to Buenos Aires to begin a veterinary career, ready to live on my own and start a new chapter. But after two years, I realized it wasn’t the right time for that path. I transitioned into a corporate job, but my passion for creativity stayed with me.

I always loved interior decorating, and soon, I started transforming my own space. I experimented with painting furniture and creating unique pieces for my home. It wasn’t long before I started painting canvases for myself, family, and friends. Then, a turning point came: a coworker saw one of my paintings and introduced me to a local museum. That connection led to my first exhibition, and I soon found myself attending events and participating in art fairs. What started as a personal passion became a path to something more.

The First Big Break

I still remember the thrill of selling my first painting—to a friend! My style then was completely different from what it is today, but that initial series will always hold a special place in my heart. Not long after, I was invited to a three-day art fair, where I sold two of my largest paintings. The feeling was electrifying. The following summer, I took part in two more art fairs in Punta del Este, Uruguay, and experienced further success, selling several paintings. With each event, I became more dedicated to my art, but with two young children and a corporate job, I had to find a balance.

Finding Solace in Art During Dark Times

In 2017, life took a difficult turn. I fell into a deep depression and had to take a three-month medical leave from my job. Those were dark days, but with the support of family, friends, and my therapist, I found my way back through art. Painting every day became my therapy, helping me heal and find purpose again.

It was during this challenging period that I discovered a beautiful, unexpected connection with art lovers. People who had been following my work reached out with support, giving me a sense of hope. One day, I received a message from a stranger on Facebook asking if I offered art classes. I was surprised but thrilled, and I decided to say yes. I converted a room in my home into an art studio and began teaching, initially for adults and eventually for children as well. Teaching filled me with a sense of purpose I hadn’t known before.

Choosing to Follow My Dream

This unexpected journey led me to a realization: I didn’t want to go back to my 9-5 corporate life. I wanted to bring my dream of being a full-time artist to life. After many conversations with my therapist and nights of contemplation, I decided to take the leap. I left my job and committed fully to my art. It was a moment of courage and faith, and I’ve never looked back.

Today’s Journey

Now, I wake up every day knowing I’m doing what I love. Each piece I create carries part of my journey, from my beginnings in Mar del Plata to the challenges I’ve overcome. Through my art, I aim to connect with others, to bring light to their spaces, and to remind them that beauty and resilience go hand in hand.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. If this story resonates with you, I invite you to explore my art, to find a piece that speaks to you, and to connect with the moments that make life meaningful.
